2008 Workforce Planning Round-up

Aruspex wishes you happy holidays!

It’s almost the end of another year, and we at Aruspex thought it was about time that we looked back at the year that has been.  2008 has brought many changes in the business world, and like you, Aruspex has been busier than ever.

The economic shift showed just how valuable workforce planning is. Our clients were able to model potential staffing changes and understand both the short term and long term impact of decisions, which brought both attention and respect from high level executives, and prevented damaging “knee jerk” reactions!

In October, for the first time the HR Technology Conference had two sessions about workforce planning because, as they said, “it’s that important”. Of course, our session with our client Aetna's presentation was the best!

Aruspex has been busy in other areas, and were featured in lots of press articles throughout 2008.  We gave webinars with HR.COM, the Human Capital Institute, The Conference Board and of course to our own customer community.  As well, we became a fully venture funded company, closing $4m in series A funding in April.

Our new research, “How to be a Great Workforce Planner” and “Business Value of Workforce Planning”, has also helped workforce planners around the world build better workforce planning approaches, and we blogged regularly on workforce planning issues. Finally, this newsletter is now over four years old, and has become a trusted monthly resource for more than a thousand workforce planners around the globe – and you can expect to see more of our thought leadership and research in workforce planning every year!

Workforce planning has become a global phenomenon and is spreading across all industries – fast becoming THE activity that separates HR leaders from laggards.  At Aruspex, we have been working with employers in industries as diverse as mining, retail, education, public sector, energy, insurance and transport (to name just a few), and have even helped an entire industry tackle their workforce challenges together. Wherever you are on your workforce planning journey, Aruspex is here to assist you.
