And then later in June the workforce planning event of the year, the Human Capital Institute's Workforce Planning conference on June 16-17. Of course Aruspex will be there.  We'll be meeting with many practitioners, and would love to see you there. Book Review – Douglas W. Hubbard's How to Measure Anything: Finding the Value of “Intangibles” in Business is a couple of years old now, but it still has valuable information for any HR people developing ROI cases (and we all need to do that!).

Hubbard invented a method of evaluating choices with uncertain risks and outcomes. In this book, he addresses how to value immeasurable objects and ideas to work out their true value. He suggests that knowledge reduces uncertainty, and shows the reader how to use statistical tools to solve this challenge.

The book breaks down into three parts, theory, tools and examples, which together provide you with an effective idea of Hubbard's framework. The tools are simple, but they provide a robust framework. The hardest part is getting over over ingrained attitudes about the immeasurability of intangibles.

We highly recommend it if you are building an ROI case for workforce planning. Or, for a faster method, just call us and we'll help you make your case - the ROI on workforce planning is a great case to make!
