Preparing for Workforce Planning in 2010 - Now that we are in the second half of 2009, it's time to start planning for our workforce planning goals and activities in 2010. Take stock of your "current state", look at related activities in the organization around you, and then plan your approach in 2010. We often use a simple change management approach like this:
Think about how successful you have already been in each column, and what you can do to improve your impact and success in 2010, and map out a balanced, personalized approach. The result is a dynamic and powerful plan that can help you evolve workforce planning to the next stage in your organization. Don't just respond to events, plan for your success in 2010!

The Workforce Planning Council - Founded in 2007, The Workforce Planning Council allows senior HR executives to share ideas and experiences about the re-emergence of workforce planning. The Council is sponsored by The Learning Forum, and differs from other groups because it allows members to take an active role by determining the agenda, learning from their peers and staying connected throughout the year.
At meetings, members share their own workforce planning experiences, and cover such as the loss of critical knowledge, replacing an aging workforce, three generations in the workforce, workforce globalization, forecasting, and business metrics. Members include CapitalOne, CH2M Hill, Marathon Oil, Sara Lee, The US Army and Wal-Mart.
The council meets regularly and always has a packed, informative agenda. To find out more, including how you can join, visit The Learning Forum's website.
