The Growth in "Green Talent" - According to an article published by
Accenture, more and more companies are looking towards “green talent”--employees capable of driving sustainability in organizations.
“Green talent”, a pool of new talent that is growing, is described as “employees who want to a have a positive impact on the environment and who have the skills to make it happen”. The change is driven by four factors that are increasing the supply and demand for "green talent": new regulations, new investments, new technologies and new values.
In strategic workforce planning, sustainability and “green talent” is an important trend to be aware of because it's an example of external forces that are beyond your control. Sustainability will impact the demand and supply of workforce talent, and should be part of your environment scanning process.
Although some companies are not prepared to enter this arena just yet, others are learning from their recent memories of the Internet Revolution and realising that the change is here to stay. Acting before your competitors will give you an advantage.

Book Review: Back of the Napkin: Solving Problems and Selling Ideas with Pictures - Dan Roam's book The back of the Napkin: Solving Problems and Selling Ideas with Pictures is based on two stereotypes: that a picture tells a thousand words and that all creative thinkers scribbled their ideas on napkins. But even if you're not an artist and prefer a clean white sheet of paper, this book has plenty to teach you.
Roam's book is based the simple premise of using visual thinking to work through complex business ideas. He straight-forward lanuages to illustrate his 4 steps of visual thinking, 5 focusing question, and 6 ways to see to describe the process. The guidelines are supported by practical examples and case studies.
Although Roam sometimes overcomplicates the process, this book is well worth a look and could help you change the way you communicate.
