New Strategic Workforce Planning Councils

The Conference Board has just announced new Strategic Workforce Planning Councils to provide a new forum for peer-to-peer learning.

The Conference Board has been one of the primary forces in workforce planning since its first Research Working Group on strategic workforce planning in 2005. Since then, it's been mapping strategic workforce planning, working with more than 70 member companies.

The new councils, based in Europe and the US, provide great opportunities to interact with other practioners. While the groups are regionally based, they are great ways to connect with people around the world since many of the members are global organization.

Don't miss out on this great opportunity to be part of Strategic Workforce Planning around the world. Contact the Conference Board via the links below for more information.

Book Review: Made to Stick

In this entertaining guide to effective communication, Dan and Chip Heath do just what they promises in the title: describes why some ideas survive and others die.

Based on case studies and observation, the book describes six principles that make an idea memorable: Simplicity, Unexpectedness, Concreteness, Credibility, Emotions and Stories. Urban legends, such as the story of the organ thief, effectively illustrate this framework.

The book is written in an accessible manner, and provides practical hints and tips that can help turn every story into a memorable one. Effective communication is vital in all parts of life, and Made to Stick  has some great ideas if you need help getting heard.
